Max SOH (maximum stock-on-hand) can be set under F4 stock on any medicine in Dispensary:
It is recommended that Order Types are set up optimally before setting maximum stock-on-hand. See: Why are some items not coming into my orders?
Max SOH should only be used if a particular medicine is not ordering the way you expect the setting overrides the parameters in Order Types and may cause issues if not configured correctly.
Note: In general, it is not advised to set Max SOH for multi-sites as the one setting is used by both sites.
Points to consider:
- Max SOH overrides all other ordering rules, except the Defer until disp. and Don't order options.
- The medicine will not be ordered if the Buy quantity causes stock to exceed the Max SOH setting, unless the medicine is owed or in negative stock, then the minimum quantity will be ordered to cover the owing/negative stock even if it exceeds Max SOH.
- If Max SOH is set to zero the behaviour will be similar to setting the Defer until disp. option.
-
Example: The table below shows the effects of setting Max SOH independently and with ReOp. and ReOq. set. The example parameters are:
- An Order Type where Min cover is set to 7 days and Max cover 14 days.
- Medicine usage of approximately 5 packs per week
