Extemporaneously compounded mixtures (ECPs), including dermatological ECPs and galenicals and oral liquid mixtures, must be entered correctly into Toniq for funding and legal purposes.

Adding a New Mixture
- On the prescription entry screen select a Patient/Rx, a Rx code and Prescriber manually or by scanning an eprescription.
- Press F8 Mixt. when at the Medicine field:
- Press F3 New Mixt. to create a new mixture (or search the list of ECPs already available using Mixture Name and/or Form):
- This results in opening this screen:
- F3 Web-Std Form links to Extemporaneously Compounded Products and Galenicals (via an intermediary page) for resources about ECPs and mixtures.
- Name the mixture with a unique, identifiable name (e.g. the example below is named Menthol 10% in Beta).
- Enter a Form such as Cream, Ointment, or Liquid, etc.
- Units may be entered as mL, g, or similar, as required.
- Press the spacebar to select a Route of administration (in the example below none was chosen).
- Enter a Note about the mixture if required (see also Add a note to a mixture).
- The Std Quant. is the volume occupied by the ingredients (it is not necessarily the quantity prepared or the sum of the ingredients). It refers to the mixture being made to the total amount and is automatically set to 100, which can be changed if required.
- The Misc section is for adding extra information about the mixture, such as CALs in CA Warnings, CA Instructions, a Shortcut name, pharmacy Retail m/up (markup), or a Sundry label with a Prompt to print this at the end of the visit.

- Click in the field under Name, Strength, Form:
- Type in the first ingredient, press enter, then select the medicine from the list provided:
- Once selected, arrow to Quant to enter the amount in the mixture (In this example 90g is used for a mixture made up to 100g)
- Press enter, and type the next ingredient and quantity, continuing until all the ingredients have been added:
- If a medicine is non-subsidised (NSS) or Cost, Brand, Source of Supply (CBS), us F5 NSS CBS to mark as such (in the example above the medicines are subsidised (SS) and have a Pharmaceutical Schedule (PS) price).
- Use F4 Del Ingred. if a wrong medicine has been selected.
- To replace an item on a mixture, highlight the item (click on it or use the arrow keys), press backspace, and then enter the correct medicine.
- Press F12 Accept Details to save the newly created mixture.
- To continue editing the mixture, press F2 Vary mixt. (see also Vary Mixture):
