Interventions can be added after patient selection in the prescription entry screen and can be linked to a patient, prescriber, prescription, and/or medicine.
Steps to Add an Intervention
Example scenario: A patient presents a prescription for 3mg warfarin but has a recent history of 2mg warfarin. during processing, Toniq identifies a potential mistake in strength, and the pharmacist decides to intervene:
After clearing the prompt, record an intervention linked to the prescription:
- Press F10 Other select Open patient diary, and press F4 Add Int’vent.
- Note: Use F10 Other in the F2 Edit Rx screen if the prescription has already been dispensed, select Open patient diary and F4 Add Int’vent there, then continue the steps below.

- Choose one or more Reason Code, Action Code, and Outcome Code for the intervention and press F12 Accept Details after each:
- These sets of codes standardise the recording of interventions to facilitate reporting. If there is no suitable Reason, Action, or Outcome code listed, then:
- Use F12 Accept Details to move to the next list without selecting a code from the current list,
- Out of all code lists press F9 Goto Note and go directly to the Intervention Note, or
- Press F10 Other, allowing the user to Edit code or add a New code.
- These sets of codes standardise the recording of interventions to facilitate reporting. If there is no suitable Reason, Action, or Outcome code listed, then:
- Select the Importance (or severity) grade:
- This is a mandatory field - an intervention cannot be raised without one.

- The next screen (shown above) shows the:
- Status - Defaults to In progress.
- Note: Statuses can be active (current) such as In progress or Complete, or inactive. Active statuses will appear in the Diary log, while inactive ones (Closed and Hide) won't:
- Tip: Mark interventions as Complete when no further action is required but are still relevant.

- Time taken - Optional. If recorded, can be reported on added up.
- Note - Optional. Details of the intervention can be turned into a Task with a reminder, if required.
- Link to - The above example intervention is linked to the Rx, Patient, and Prescriber.
- Note: After the intervention is entered and the script completed per the scenario above, the Rx link will automatically show the script number:

- Status - Defaults to In progress.
- Press F12 Accept Details to save the intervention.
