1CHART has introduced a PIN feature to be used when countersigning medicines. All users who can countersign will be prompted to enter a PIN.
- Note: This is only for use in countersigning for medications and not for logging in to 1chart.
Information for Administrators to reset a staff member's PIN is located here.
Setting a PIN:
If you do not yet have a PIN, you will be directed to your User Profile on login to set it up:
Your PIN must be 6 digits long and should be kept secure. It only needs to set up once.
Once you have submitted your new PIN, 1Chart will briefly say it has saved.
ASSUME THAT 1CHART HAS SAVED YOUR NEW PIN AFTER PRESSING SUBMIT.
PLEASE CONTACT YOUR MANAGER TO RESET YOUR PIN IF YOU HAVE FORGOTTEN IT.
Green boxes below will appear (see below) if you have already set your pin:
You can then navigate away from the PIN Change page.
MANAGERS: Refer to section at end of this article (here) on how to reset PINs.
Using the PIN:
The PIN will be used to authenticate your Username when countersigning a medicine administration (see example below). You are still required to type in your Username, but you will be able to use your PIN rather than the current Password functionality.
Changing a PIN:
If you want to change your PIN, click on your Username (see 1 in screenshot below) at the top right of the screen and then selecting PIN Change (marked 2 in the screenshot).
You will be asked to enter your current PIN and your new PIN, before submitting the change.
Once submitted, 1Chart will say it has saved, then you can navigate away from the Pin Change page.
-
Note: 1Chart will remain on this page after the new PIN has been submitted and saved.
- If you try to change the PIN again, the Current PIN will be what you just changed it to, not the original one.
Forgot PIN:
If you have forgotten your PIN and need to reset it, please contact your Administration/Management team and they will be able to reset it for you.
Once your PIN has been reset, you will receive a notification email. When you next log in you will be asked to set up a new PIN.
- Note: Managers will only be able to reset PINs when countersigning with a PIN functionality has been enabled.
For Managers and Administrators:
If a user/staff member has forgotten their PIN, you can reset it in the User List (where you would normally create new staff members).
There will be a PIN Icon by the username:
Once selected, you will need to confirm you want to reset the user’s PIN:
The User will then be required to enter in a new PIN the next time they log in.
