Check Labels and Forms

The check label or A5 form is printed at the end of a visit and is used to display key warning data identified during the processing of a prescription. It is designed to assist pharmacists' final check by highlighting critical information that may have been overlooked. Potential risk factors, such as medicine interactions, allergies or adverse reactions, patient warning notes, age (if under 18), and differences to previous dispensings, can be configured as described below.

• Note: The check label/form can be turned off for institution patients by ticking the Don't print check label option on page 2 of the institution's maintenance screens. 

Check Label Options

To view or edit the check label options:

• From the main menu of Dispensary, go to 7. Administration, 1. Setup, 3. Printer setup, then 2. Label print options, and press F11 Next Page:

Print at 'End Visit'

• To print a check label or form displaying the chosen options (below), this setting must be ticked.
  • Note: If a check label or form prints and the patient's age is under 18, their age will automatically be displayed (i.e. at least one other option must be set, e.g. New medicines):
    

Use CRC printer

• Tick to print a check form from the CRC printer (see Dispensary Devices Setup), which is usually set to print to A5 paper. Leave unticked to print to the label printer, which limits the information displayed.

Print if warning notes

• When ticked, if the patient has a Warning note and its Prompt set, these print on the check label or form:
  

New medicines

• Tick to show medicines the patient is receiving for the first time.
  • Note: The check label will show abbreviated names of medicines, in lowercase if dispensed by generic or uppercase for brand names.

Patient medication history

• If Use CRC printer is set, the form will show the patients medication history if this option is ticked.

Interactions

• NZF (shown) or MIMS Interactions, along with their severity, will print on the check form or label if ticked:
  
  • Note: Registration for NZF or MIMS required for this option.
• All interactions are displayed, even if the General Options screen has been configured to reduce the range of interactions displayed, e.g. to only show serious interactions.

Allergies/Intolerances

• NZF or MIMS allergies/intolerances/adverse reactions will print on the check form or label if ticked.

Change of Strength

• When ticked, shows changes of strength of medicines, compared to previous dispensing, on check label/form.

Change of Dose/Freq

• Shows changes of dose/frequency compared to previous dispensing on check label/form when ticked.

Change of Brand

• Tick to show brand changes on the check label/form, compared with previous dispensing.

Differing variable repeat directions

• If set, this option shows medicines with differing variable repeat directions.

Show medicine photos on report

• Shows medicine photos on check form (only, not label) when ticked:
  
  • Note: Registration for Pill Pictures is required for this option.

Print header on all pages

• When ticked, prints the patient details header on all pages of the check form, if there are multiple pages.

Maximum number of interaction details lines

• When set to a figure between 1 and 20, the check form will print NZF or MIMS (shown below, set to show 5 lines) lines of text to the limit of that value. If it is set to 0, then only the line with the interacting medicines, severity etc. are listed:

Reprinting Check Labels/Forms

Check labels and forms can be re-printed from the patient history grid if required:

• Select the patient, press F5 Use History then F8 Re-Print, and select 3 Check items:
  
• Press either F9 Select Day to select all dispensings for the current day, or F8 Check Items to choose individual scripts, and press F11 Auto Accept.
