Toniq Data Backups

Two or more different types of regular backups are recommended for Toniq databases.

Toniq recommends doing an additional backup to a USB drive for the end of the financial year for record purposes.

Toniq Vault

Consider an automatic off-site, cloud-based, backup option such as Toniq Vault (click the link for more information).

Removable Backups

It is recommended that backups are done to USB Pen Drives - one pen drive for each working day is suggested. Pen drives are inexpensive and come in many capacities. A standard-size pen drive required for Toniq backups would be 16 GB or larger.

Doing Backups in Toniq

• We recommend doing a Location 1 (Fixed) onsite backup daily. This should be to a PC which is not the server, and usually the next best computer to the server.
• The Locations 2 (Removable) backup specified in Dispensary or Retail is in relation to the server computer. For example, E:\ in the image below is the E drive of the server computer, and where the USB pen drive has been inserted. This location remains the same, regardless of which workstation you do the backup from:
