IMPORTANT UPDATE: 26/07/2023
In order for prescriptions to be sent through to VMS portal with tax code B, a new program upgrade will be made available from the 1st of August.
A new option will be added to Store Setup, ‘Default Rx tax label’ which will allow a different tax code to be applied for scripts.
From 1st August 2023, Fiji tax rates are changing. Please follow the guide below to update the tax rates
within your Toniq system.
This should ONLY be done on August 1st before opening (or after close on 31st July)
Toniq Retail
From Main Menu:
- 7. Administration
- 1. Setup
- 4. Price parameters
- Update Retail and Rx tax rates
- [F12 Accept Details]
You will also need to change the DEFAULT tax code from A to D and, and A to B for Rx’s.
To do this, from the main menu.

- 7. Store setup
- 1. Store setup
- Spacebar, select your store.
- [F11 Next Page]
- Spacebar in Default Tax Label
- Choose “Value Added Tax 15%” – Tax Code (D)
- Spacebar in Default Rx Tax Label
- Choose “Value Added Tax 0 Rated” – Tax Code (B)
- [F12 Accept Details]
Repricing Stock in Retail
You may wish to reprice stock in Retail to reflect the tax increase from 9% to 15%. This can be achieved using the built in reprice option for Toniq Retail.
WARNING: If you DO NOT currently use the reprice function for applying sale prices within Retail, you will first need to perform product admin/maintenance to ensure reprice markups are set correctly. If you are unsure, please reach out to support@toniq.co.nz.
AFTER updating the tax label codes, and price parameters on August 1st.
From the Main Menu:
- 2. Stock control
- 3. Stock maintenance
- 1. Maintain Products in Bulk
- [F3 Add]
- Stock availability: In Stock
- [F12 Accept Details]
(Generates the list of products) - [F11 Reprice]
- 2. Increases only.
(This ensures only products which are setup correctly should increase, and prevent accidental decreasing in sale prices) - [F12 Accept Details]

Product Price Stickers
Ensure you replace or redo price stickers for the store through usually methods.
Toniq Dispensary
From Main Menu:

- Update GST rate (found bottom middle)
- [F11 Next Page] 4x
- [F12 Accept Details]
VMS Integration
VMS Receipts will always report the tax rate provided by the FRCS, as this is centrally controlled and applied at time of sale.
Tax rates on receipts will NOT be affected by the changes above. The changes above are required when pricing is being calculated from a base cost, e.g. last cost x markup x GST (vat).
NON-GST sales will also use the above configured values to calculate the removal of tax on sales.
