Texting Patients
To contact patients regarding flu vaccinations, e.g. over 65-year-olds or patients who had a flu vaccination last year, see Targeted Bulk Texts/Emails to send out texts and/or emails informing them of flu vaccination availability.
Dispense Vaccination and Fee
- Process the script as normal, with the Pharmacist Vaccinator as the Prescriber.
- If the eligibility requirements are met, put the NSS Quantity as 0 (zero):
Note: A pharmacy prescription copy always prints for subsidised flu vaccinations (and other medicines funded for pharmacy supply) where the prescriber is a pharmacist (but not if it is NSS). Requests for this to be an option, rather than automatic, have been forwarded to the development team.
- Dispense an administration or co-administration fee, as per the Immunisation-and-Co-Administration-Fees article.
Update Service Pricing
For funded vaccinations and immunisation administration fees to price correctly in Toniq, follow the steps in Updating Pricing to Latest ICPSA Contract – Toniq.
Flu Vaccination Templates
Two 2025 flu templates are available in Dispensary:
- TQ Flu Vaccine Consent Form:
- TQ Flu Vaccine Eligibility Declaration:
Reporting
The prescription details report can be used to find all patients who have had a flu vaccination. The report can be found in:
- 3. Reports > 2. Prescription reports > 2. Prescription details.
- Fill in the required Date Range (using F3 or entering the Start date and End date manually), and
- Select the medicine (flu vaccination) that you want to report on.
- Optional: tick Patient Name order to format the report as shown below.
- Optional: tick Include Rx Notes/comment or Include Directions if batch, expiry, or location of administration was recorded in one of those fields and needs to be reported on.
Set up the Pharmacist Vaccinator as the Prescriber
- Set up the Prescriber, the administrator of the flu vaccination, as a Pharmacist Vaccinator in Dispensary:
- The Registration number for a Pharmacist Vaccinator should not have a prefix.
- A pharmacist may be in Toniq as a prescriber twice – once as a Pharmacist (with a hyphenated prefix on the Registration number) and as a Pharmacist Vaccinator.
